Health Administration Center (HAC) is, Gifu University an educational research facility supporting for education / research activities that aims to contribute to the health management and promotion of students, faculty members, and staff.

In October 1969, the Health Administration Special Committee was established in Gifu University to push for the opening of the HAC. After the National School Establishment Law Enforcement Regulations were revised in April 1974, the HAC was opened in October 1974 as a facility directly supervised by the Gifu University President at the Nagara campus. At the same time, the Student Counseling Room was also organized and included in the HAC. However, to address the shortage of professional staff, the faculty of each department had to provide counseling services. At the time, since Gifu University had three campuses—the Nagara, Naka, and Tsukasa campuses, the HAC managed health services in collaborating with the health care rooms in each campus.

In 1981, a new health care room was opened at Yanagido campus after Gifu University built a new campus there. Afterward, the all-campus integration plan of Gifu University progressed. Beginning in 1983, the HAC began preparing to integrate all its features into the facility at the Yanagido campus. The following year, the HAC transferred to the Yanagido campus. In April 2004, the transfer of the School of Medicine and University Hospital was completed, that is, Gifu University was integrated into a single campus. As a result, the system for efficient health management of all undergraduate and graduate schools by HAC developed effectively.

In 2004, the health management system for faculty members and staff was modified. The reason is the changed status of Gifu University from a national university into a national university corporation. Such a shift required adherence to a new law, from rules of the National Personnel Authority to the guidelines under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Therefore, Gifu University Official Mutual Aid Clinics at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) was closed. Further, the HACfs main activities focused for faculty member and staff on occupational health, including healthcare, disease prevention, and reinstatement support. In 2010, occupational health physicians and nurses were assigned at the HAC, and subsequently, occupational health activities were launched in earnest.

Meanwhile, a project to promote lifelong health was recognized by the MEXT as a gStudent Support Program Corresponding to New Social Needs (Good Practice for Student Support)h in 2007. The HAC has endeavored to improve the quality of health education, health check-up and mental support for students. Finally the position of a full-time university counselor in the HAC has been promoted, systems for student support has developed in collaboration with psychiatrists and clinical psychologists.
